Harlequin (1980) - Simon Wincer

I grabbed this because it looked sort of bizarre - turns out it was. I am positively puzzled as to why anyone would think making this film was a good idea. What sort of drug-addled imbecile figured a movie about a David Bowie-impersonating magician would be "cool"? Robert Powell stars as a maniacal Bowie/Jesus/Clown, that takes on a government conspiracy! The movie is pretty weird for the entirety of its runtime, but its also completely uninteresting. It sort of felt like I was watching some bad italo scifi-schlock, but with a higher budget and lacking all the entertaining bits. The ominous "twist" ending, where a kids face suddenly appears in some filth on a kitchen floor, almost had me yelling at the screen in frustration. Harlequin is a total waste of time.
